The Benue State Police Command has officially verified the passing of Reverend Father Faustinus Gundu, a Catholic priest.

Rev. Fr. Faustinus Gundu, who served as the Parish Priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jootar, Ukum Local Government Area, met an untimely demise under perplexing circumstances last Thursday.

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the cause of his death. According to one account, he was struck by lightning, while another suggested that he collapsed and passed away. However, it was revealed that Fr. Gundu had stepped outside to retrieve a towel he had left when, unexpectedly, a rain shower began.

Tragically, in his haste to retrieve the towel, he slipped and fell, sustaining a head injury. Regrettably, by the time others became aware of the incident, he had already succumbed.

When approached for comment, SP Catherine Anene, the Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police, acknowledged the incident. Nevertheless, she could not confirm whether his death was due to a fall or a lightning strike. An investigation is pending before the exact cause of death can be determined.
