    Gunmen adopt cleric conveying corpse for burial in Kogi

    Unknown gunmen have kidnapped an Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his younger brother in Kogi state.

    The cleric and others were conveying the corpse of the Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja on Sunday when they ran into the kidnappers.

    They were taking the late Chief Imam’s corpse to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government of Kogi state for burial.

    One of the occupants of the car who escaped abduction told our reporter that the incident occurred just Oshokoshoko, along Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.

    He explained that their car was moving ahead the vehicle carrying the corpse of late Sheikh Musa who died on Sunday morning after a brief illnes

    A source told Kogi Reports that the victims’ telephone lines have been switched off since their abductors, but added the kidnappers made contact with the family on Monday morning demanding for 10 million Naira ransom for their release.

    The state Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omadara who confirmed the inident said that the security agents in the state are doing everything possible to rescue them from the Kidnappers den.

    “It is true but the security operatives were on their trail in a bid to rescue them and arrest the kidnappers.” He said.
