In a significant breakthrough, the Taraba State Police Command has apprehended a group of suspected armed robbers who have been causing fear and insecurity in various parts of the state.
The announcement of this successful operation was made by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, through an official statement released to the press.
The suspects were apprehended by diligent officers from the Kofai Police Station, who are attached to the Sunkani Division in Ardo-Kola Local Government Council.
The individuals taken into custody were identified as Joseph Desmind, Swaibu Sambu, Danladi Ibrahim, and Douglas John. Interestingly, Desmind and John hail from the neighboring Adamawa State, while Sambu and Ibrahim are native to Taraba State.
These suspects have been linked to a series of robberies and acts of terror directed at students and communities surrounding Taraba State University in Jalingo.
“The arrested suspects have admitted their involvement in these criminal activities and are cooperating with the police by providing valuable information that may lead to the capture of their accomplices, who are currently evading arrest,” stated Abdullahi Usman.
Furthermore, the Taraba State Police Command refuted widespread rumors suggesting that more than a hundred individuals were kidnapped along Zing Road on Saturday night. They clarified that only two people were indeed abducted, putting an end to the unfounded speculation.
