A devastating accident occurred in the early hours of Monday on the Lagos-Ibadan highway in Ogun State, resulting in the loss of four lives, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The fatal incident took place around 12:45 am, as reported by the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe. A total of 21 individuals were involved in the accident, comprising 13 adult males and eight adult females.
Among the 21 individuals, three sustained injuries – one male and two females – due to the crash, while the remaining four victims, all of them adult males, tragically lost their lives.
The accident involved a luxury bus with the registration number ACA533ZP and another vehicle that lacked visible registration information. Excessive speed leading to a loss of control is believed to be the suspected cause of the collision, as indicated by Florence Okpe.
The injured victims were promptly taken to Famobis Hospital for medical treatment, while the deceased were placed in the Idera morgue.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Anthony Uga, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized that such accidents can be prevented with caution and adherence to basic road safety rules. He advised motorists to exercise common sense speed limits, especially during nighttime when visibility is reduced.
Uga also urged the families affected by this tragic event to reach out to the FRSC’s Mowe unit Command for further information and assistance related to the accident.
