Darren Bent, the former Tottenham striker, has made a bold assertion that Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is likely to face dismissal before the Christmas season arrives.

Bent firmly believes that if Pochettino fails in his mission to bring stability to Stamford Bridge, his tenure will be swiftly terminated. Despite Chelsea’s lavish spending, which exceeds £1 billion over the past three transfer windows, including a staggering £500 million in the recent summer, they have struggled to show improvement compared to their previous season when they finished in 12th place.

Pochettino’s Chelsea side has played six games, managing just one win and suffering three losses, including a disheartening 1-0 home defeat against Aston Villa on Sunday. They currently occupy the 14th position in the nascent league table, with a mere four-point buffer above the relegation zone.

Bent expressed his concerns, stating, “Initially, Graham Potter was considered the one to rejuvenate Chelsea. However, the situation was deteriorating to such an extent that they decided to abandon that plan. I have a strong feeling that unless Pochettino manages to turn things around, regardless of their promises to give him time to rebuild the squad, Chelsea may find themselves compelled to make a change by the time Christmas arrives. I’m talking about a scenario where Chelsea languish in the lower half of the table, somewhere between the bottom and the top ten.” Bent shared his thoughts on talkSPORT.
