Angeles Bejar, the mother of Luis Rubiales, finds herself hospitalized after enduring a 50-hour hunger strike. The motive behind her drastic action is to protest what she perceives as the ‘inhumane’ treatment of her son, who serves as the president of the Spanish Football Federation.

Bejar, a retired hairdresser, had taken refuge inside the Divina Pastora de Motril church in Granada since Monday morning, steadfastly refusing to return home. Her protest included a refusal to eat, which resulted in her going without sustenance for 50 hours. She did, however, consume water in order to take her necessary medication.

Father Antonio, the priest overseeing the church, disclosed on Wednesday evening that Bejar had been admitted to the hospital due to her deteriorating condition. Her health had been negatively impacted by the intense heat and the overall strain of her protest, leading to swollen feet, exhaustion, and heightened nervousness.

The protest aimed at raising awareness of her son’s situation has taken a toll on Bejar’s well-being, prompting the need for medical attention.
