    Delta’s Governor Oborevwori champions practical education for self-reliance and development.

    Oborevwori, Delta State Governor, emphasized that practical education and hands-on learning are the solutions to Nigeria’s overdependence on foreign goods. He advocated for a shift away from theoretical knowledge towards practical skills that empower people to produce goods locally and for export, promoting national development. This was expressed during his inspection of various projects at the University of Delta, Agbor, Owa-Alero campus. These projects encompassed areas like Environmental Studies, Lecture theaters, Engineering Workshops, a Solar farm at Mother and Child Hospital Owa-Alero, and an 11.3km road in Ika North-East Local Government Area.

    Represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the Governor emphasized that Nigeria and other developing nations could reduce their reliance on imports by embracing technical education to enhance productivity. He praised the quality of work by the contractor and acknowledged the previous administration for initiating these projects. The Governor expressed confidence that these projects would be ready for inauguration in the coming days and highlighted the government’s commitment to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones to improve the lives of Deltans. He particularly applauded the practical skills demonstrated by students and stressed the importance of practical knowledge over theoretical learning for economic growth. Finally, regarding the Ute-Okpu – Ute-Elugu Road, the Governor mentioned that it comprises both fresh construction and resurfacing, commending the contractor’s work and announcing its impending inauguration within the next two weeks.
