    FG Announces N5bn Palliative for Each State

    The Federal Government has announced a N5 billion palliative for each state of the federation, including the federal capital territory (FCT), to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

    Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, made the announcement in Abuja on Thursday when he spoke to State House correspondents at the end of a national economic council (NEC) meeting.

    Vice President Kashim Shettima preside over the meeting.
    Zulum said each of the states will be expected to buy 100 000 bags of rice and beans for distribution to reduce hardship of the masses.
    According to him each state will also get five trucks of Rice within this period.
    The Governor stated that the Governors agreed that more items would go to states that has border with Niger Republic as a result of influx of people from the country into Nigeria.
