Engr Onyiriuka Stanley Chike, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the Imo House of Assembly in the 2023 election, along with over 1,000 of his supporters, has left the party in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area.
He has now joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pledged his support to the governorship flagbearer, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, ahead of the November 11 polls.
Onyiriuka, also known as “Chyko,” gained considerable popularity among the electorate in his constituency during the March general election.
In a statement, the politician stated that he and his followers left the SDP to join forces with the people of Imo to address issues like insecurity, bad governance, greed, and harsh policies.
He believes that what the state needs is the removal of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government and the establishment of a people-oriented administration, which he believes Samuel Anyanwu can provide.
Onyiriuka called on anyone opposing the liberation of Imo to reconsider their stance, emphasizing that the gubernatorial election presents an opportunity to end the killing of innocent youths and the destruction of properties for no reason.
He described the APC administration as “very insensitive” and pledged to continue mobilizing well-meaning Nigerians in the three zones against the ruling party.
