Nigerian Senate Delays Vacation to Initiate Screening of Tinubu’s Ministerial Nominees

The Nigerian Senate has made an important decision to delay its scheduled vacation in order to begin the screening process for the ministerial nominees put forward by President Bola Tinubu. This move comes after President Tinubu submitted a list of 28 candidates for ministerial positions to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday.

As announced by the Senate’s spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, all Senate activities have been temporarily suspended to accommodate the screening process. Starting from Monday, the Upper Chamber will devote its time to carefully assess the nominees’ qualifications and suitability for the roles.

The screening sessions will be comprehensive, with the Senate providing ample time for each nominee to present their plans and vision for their respective positions. There will be no restrictions on time, and the Senators are prepared to sit all day if necessary. Importantly, the entire screening process will be conducted openly in the presence of the public, allowing Nigerians to witness the proceedings firsthand. The screening will commence at 11 am on Monday and continue at 10 am on subsequent days.

By prioritizing this screening process and extending transparency to the public, the Senate aims to ensure that qualified and capable individuals are appointed to serve in ministerial roles, contributing to the country’s progress and development.
