Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State emphasizes the importance of securing Nigeria’s maritime domain and curbing illegal activities on the country’s waterways. During a courtesy visit by Rear Admiral U.S.A Chugali, the Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, Governor Oborevwori highlights Delta State’s coastal significance as an oil-producing region, requiring steadfast support from the Navy in maintaining security.

Governor Oborevwori acknowledges the Navy’s efforts in securing waterways, which have contributed to the smooth operation of oil production in the state. He urges the Navy to continue its commitment to ensure a safe and secure maritime domain, addressing illegal activities that still persist in the region.

With Delta State’s terrain being 40 percent coastal, the Governor expresses his assurance that the presence of Rear Admiral Chugali, whom he previously worked with during his military Amnesty Coordinator days, will further enhance the state’s security. He trusts that the Navy, along with other security agencies, will diligently address activities in the seas to ensure peace and attract more investments to the state.

Rear Admiral Chugali, on his familiarisation visit to Delta State, expresses appreciation for the support given by Governor Oborevwori to his men and other security agencies in the state. He reaffirms the Navy’s commitment to ensuring a secure maritime domain, promoting social and economic activities in the country.
