DSS Refutes Claims of Arresting Yari for Ignoring Tinubu’s Phone Call

    Published on

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied allegations that Senator Abdulaziz Yari was arrested for refusing to take a phone call from President Bola Tinubu. In a statement issued by the DSS spokesperson, Dr. Peter Afunanya, the claim was described as laughable and inconsequential.

While confirming that Yari was invited by the DSS, Afunanya clarified that the senator was aware of the reason behind his invitation. The statement also refuted accusations that the DSS was conducting surveillance on judges of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Additionally, the DSS denied reports that the agency raided the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and took away certain files. The claim of internal conflicts within the DSS due to nepotism was also dismissed.

The DSS stated that it would not typically respond to such inaccuracies but chose to do so due to concerns about misleading the public. The agency identified the mentioned news platforms—SaharaReporters, Peoples Gazette, and Jackson Ude—as sources of false narratives and accusations.

It is important to note that the DSS has vehemently denied the allegations and clarified its position on the matter.
