3SC sack Ogunbote, Dimeji Lawal, coaching crew

    Published on

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have parted company with Technical Adviser Gbenga Ogunbote, General Manager Dimeji Lawal, and the entire coaching crew.

The decision, which takes immediate effect, follows a disappointing end to the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Despite high expectations, 3SC finished in 8th after recording 15 wins, 9 draws, and 14 losses in 38 matches.

Gbenga Ogunbote, who returned to the Oluyole Warriors in August 2022 for a third stint, leaves after nearly three years in charge.

Dimeji Lawal, a former player turned administrator, also exits his role as General Manager as part of the restructuring aimed at repositioning the club ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Although a senior club official recently dismissed rumours of Ogunbote joining Kano Pillars and affirmed he would honour his remaining contract, developments in recent days have resulted in a change of course.

The club is now actively drawing up a shortlist of experienced coaches. The goal is to secure a swift appointment before the NPFL season kicks off on August 22nd, 2025.
