    “26-Year-Old Woman Remanded for Assaulting Police Officer in Lagos”

    Omorogbe Jennifer Soni, aged 26, has been remanded in custody after being arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for assaulting a police officer in Ajah.

    The incident, which occurred on February 21, 2024, and was captured on camera, led to Jennifer’s arrest and subsequent arraignment at the Etiosa Magistrate Court, Ajah. She has since been remanded to the Kirikiri Female Correctional Centre.

    According to details from the charge sheet obtained by Vanguard, Jennifer faces a five-count charge. Allegations include obstructing a highway with her Mercedes Benz 4matic vehicle (Reg. No: ABJ 732 AY), as well as unlawfully obstructing and assaulting Superintendent of Police Comfort Areghan, who was performing her lawful duties as the Divisional Traffic Officer.

    Jennifer is accused of forcefully pushing SP Comfort Areghan to the ground while the latter was controlling traffic, resulting in injuries. These actions constitute offences punishable under various sections of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.

    The case has been adjourned until March 27, 2024, for further proceedings.
