‎A political organisation, the Obidient Movement, has warned of stiff resistance against any attempt to manipulate the 2027 general elections.

‎

‎The group told the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and allies of President Bola Tinubu to “write their wills” ahead of the polls if they plan to rig.

‎

‎It made the threat in a statement issued by its Media and Communication Directorate on Tuesday, while reacting to Wike’s comments on TVC.

‎

‎Wike had dismissed claims by Peter Obi and the Obidient Movement that Obi won Rivers State in the 2023 presidential election.

‎

‎The former Rivers governor said the claimed victory existed only on social media, stressing that elections are decided at polling units, and declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

‎

‎But the Obidient Movement described Wike’s remarks as a boastful admission of electoral manipulation in 2023.

‎

‎”Even though this reconfirms what we have always known about the outcome of the 2023 elections, it is jarring to hear it once again in a braggadocio manner,” the group said.

‎

‎It accused Wike and other political actors of manipulating the 2023 presidential election in favour of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

‎

‎The movement compared alleged electoral fraud to a military coup, arguing that while coup plotters are punished, election manipulators are rewarded with offices.

‎

‎It warned that Nigerians would enforce a “rig-and-die” mantra from polling units to collation centres in 2027.

‎

‎The group also called on INEC to conduct credible elections and accused the commission of partisanship towards the ruling APC.

‎

‎It urged security agencies to protect voters and the process, not intimidate citizens or facilitate manipulation.

‎

‎The movement added that the 2027 elections must be decided by voters at polling units, and its results must reflect votes actually cast.
