The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has mobilised stakeholders across the six area councils for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Wike made the call at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Monday, expressing confidence in Tinubu’s chances on account of infrastructure and other initiatives in the FCT.
He cited the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission and major road projects, including the Apo-Karshi road billed for completion in November.
According to him, the projects and human development initiatives under Tinubu are enough reason for residents to support a second term.
Wike declared he would coordinate Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers State and provide required resources.
“I am the field marshal of this election in the FCT, and we are building a coalition that will not fail,” he said.
“Whatever is required to conduct the election, we will have it. Everything that is required, every obstacle, I have already removed them, by providing what the FCT people want,” he added.
The mobilisation comes amid realignments ahead of 2027, with groups exploring alliances for electoral advantage.
Wike maintained his support for Tinubu does not mean endorsing APC in every contest, noting politicians across parties can back the President while keeping their affiliations.
Meanwhile, the FCT PDP senatorial candidate and two House of Representatives candidates for 2027 were reported to have stepped down for APC to consolidate support for Tinubu.
Details of their formal withdrawal and nomination status were not provided at the meeting.
Speaking for other stakeholders, Senator Jibrin Wowo and Zakari Dobi expressed confidence in Tinubu’s re-election, citing infrastructure improvements across the FCT.
The meeting is part of efforts to build a broad base for Tinubu in the FCT ahead of the presidential poll.
