2027: ‘Stop talking, go to work,’ Niboro slams Wike, APC govs

‎Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Ima Niboro, has slammed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and APC governors over their public spat ahead of the 2027 elections, urging them to stop talking and go to work.

‎Niboro, who featured on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show’ during the week, described the feud as a “quarrel among siblings,” and said it was distracting the ruling bloc from real voter mobilisation.

‎The disagreement erupted after the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) led by the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, rejected political arrangements it said could weaken the APC or undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

‎Wike had fired back, insisting his Rainbow Coalition is an independent initiative to mobilise support for Tinubu’s second term and does not prevent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from fielding candidates in other races.

‎Niboro said both sides should tone down media exchanges and prove their political strength at the grassroots.

‎”When I said tone down the rhetoric, I do not mean stop working. Stop talking, go and work,” he said.

‎Niboro added that television shouting matches will not deliver victory in 2027.

‎”All this shouting is not taking anybody anywhere. Go and work. Go and establish your authority on your political base. Get on the TV cameras. Go to the people. Go to the streets. Go to the marketplaces. Go and win the people,” he said.

‎The former presidential spokesman stressed he was not asking Wike to disband his coalition or asking APC governors to compromise party loyalty, but to focus on building winning structures.

‎”If you’re a political leader, stop talking. Go and work. That is my point,” Niboro said.

‎The rift over Wike’s role and his Rainbow Coalition has continued to generate controversy within the APC over how external support groups should align with the party’s official machinery as momentum builds toward 2027.
