2027: Prepare your handover notes, Oyo APC youths tell Makinde

    Published on

The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has asked Governor Seyi Makinde to begin preparing his handover notes, declaring that residents are yearning for renewed leadership, accountability, security, and development as the 2027 governorship election draws closer.

Speaking at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, ahead of the Oyo APC Youth Summit, State APC Youth Leader Comrade John Aremu said the party’s youths are ready to lead a political transition.

According to Aremu, the APC is determined to “liberate” the state from what he described as the “bondage of PDP-led governance under Makinde,” insisting that the ruling party should prepare for its “send-off.”

“We are sending a loud and unmistakable signal to the PDP: APC is coming. The youths are rising. The movement has started,” he declared.

Aremu pointed to renewed unity within the APC, citing the reconciliation between former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin and Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu as proof that the party is positioned for victory in 2027.

He said the upcoming Youth Summit aims to reshape the party’s future by strengthening structures and promoting progressive ideals. The event will bring together young APC members across all zones and interest blocs.

Aremu said the summit will encourage honest self-assessment and planning ahead of the next election cycle:
“We must assess our strengths, weaknesses, and the gaps between leadership and the youth constituency—not to assign blame, but to chart a clearer progressive path forward.”

The summit will also unveil a youth-driven strategic roadmap focusing on political mobilisation, grassroots engagement, digital advocacy, community impact programmes, and issue-based campaigns.
