2027: Atiku Explains Outcome If ADC Fails to Reach Consensus Candidate

    Published on

A former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has said there will be direct primaries if they fail to pick a consensus candidate in the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Atiku stated this while answering questions on Arise TV on Wednesday evening.

According to him, the first option in the coalition is to work out a consensus.

When asked if he would step aside if he doesn’t emerge as the party’s flagbearer, Atiku replied: “It is not the issue of stepping aside, but will I support?

“The first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t work out, then will be go for primary elections.

“But I will support anybody that emerges.”

Atiku also claimed that the ADC will likely not need primaries to determine the 2027 presidential candidate.

“I don’t think we will get there, because we are all matured politicians,” he said.

“We have all agreed that this is the way to save democracy in this country.”
