2025 AFCON: Injured Hakimi Included in Morocco Squad

    Published on

Moroccan star defender Achraf Hakimi has been named in the Atlas Lions’ squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite ongoing concerns over his fitness.

The PSG full-back has been recovering from injury in recent weeks, but Morocco’s technical team opted to include him in the final list, expressing optimism that he will be fit enough to feature at some point during the tournament.

Hakimi remains a central figure in Morocco’s ambition to achieve a historic host-and-win campaign as the country stages the 2025 AFCON on home soil. His inclusion is viewed as a major boost for the North African side, considered one of the tournament favourites.

Team officials said they are closely monitoring his recovery and are confident the defender could still play an important role as the competition progresses.
