Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District in Nigeria’s Parliament, Clifford Ordia has askef nigerian youths to shun violence and thuggery during the upcoming 2023 general elections.

He also stressed the need to use politics and democracy to empower Nigerian youths so that they can positively contribute to national development

The senator made the remarks on the occasion of the World International Youth Day which took place at the weekend

“I join the world on this special day, to celebrate youths of all age bracket, as the world commemorate the International Youth Day.

“As we all know, the concept of youthfulness symbolizes strength, vigour and innovation. No nation truly develops without the active participation of her youthful population.
“The fight and agitation for independence and freedom from the fetters of British colonianism in Nigeria, was fought by galant and brave Nigerian youths”, he stated .

Senator Ordia disclosed that he had always given optimum attention to matters concerning youths including getting them to take active part in politics and vying for elective positions,
He said it was that conviction that made him and his colleagues to vigorously fight for the passage of the not-too-young-to-run Bill

“As a member of the 8th Senate of the National Assembly, I worked tenaciously in concert with my other distinguished colleagues to push for a legislation that mainstream the participation of youths in Nigeria’s political system and that of course, gave birth to the not too young to run Act that reduced the age for persons seeking elective position to 25 years.

The Senator who is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers stated, stressing further that as the Senator Representing Edo Central Senatorial District, 80% of his constituency empowerment programmes have been focused and targeted at youths adding that the initiative has in no small measure helped in engaging youths productively, thereby making them valuable assets in the development of his Senatorial District.

“As the 2023 general elections draw near, I want to urge you all to carry out your campaigns and mobilisations in the most civil manner available. There is no need to involve in bantering that tends to defame the image and characters of your political opponents

” I urge Nigeria youths to obey the clarion call, come together and lift Nigeria high”, he said .
